Literature is art along with calligraphy and book making.

I am frustrated in the attempt of making a one sentence definition in every day language. Smiles and peace, Diane

David,
I feel my definition of art needs polishing also.
For as soon as I posted it, I thought that it excluded music which is an art form.

Is the following attempt better?

Art is a found vehicle presented so others will sense connection.

Vehicle is a fuzzy word here. I like your coined word "perceptics." It has been along time since I took a college course in perception. There might all ready be a word,"perceptics" I wish the definition was in every day language.

Art is the presentation of found images and/or sounds that engage people with the artist's vision.

D.,

Thanks for the non-suggestion. The next time I need some mysterious troll, I'll consult you, since you seem to be the expert at that.

D.

I really like the info about proportion as related to how we are to view David from below.

R.

I am a bit confused by this. I wonder if Picasso is the right person to make your point.
